Super beautiful and decorative for your home! Born in Philadelphia, Petry painted in NYC and in Maine. He was a painter, illustrator and etcher and was known for his portrayals of gorgeous floral still life oil paintings, seascapes and ships. He was a student of Frederic Waugh and is listed in Davenports & in Who Was Who in American Art. This is a great vintage oil on canvas painting, very beautifully done and very decorative, depicting multi-colored flowers in a vase, under a beige / cream light.
We feel deep emotions captured in this delicate painting and they radiate a mysterious atmosphere. The composition is balanced, incredible in details and use of colors, creating a harmonious and peaceful floral image in a surprising light. It is signed by the artist in the right side: Petry, but we don't have a Certificate of Autenticity, we bought it from Humble, TX. Painting is in VERY GOOD USED condition!
Minor imperfections are not noticeable. It was recently cleaned and re- varnished for protection. Frame is in good vintage condition, with minor signs of wear, small scratches and chips, but nothing really noticeable when painting is on the wall. This frame was made most probably for an art gallery, being definitely a very impressive piece on its own right, really very nice and worth more than a half of the price! Great for any collection, great as a present for every occasion, highly decorative for your home! Just a beautiful piece - don't miss this one.
