Leroy Neiman Impressionist Tiger Vintage SIGNED Oil Painting. This eclectic sale features an interesting combination of 14 paintings, sculptures or graphic art that were primarily done by a variety of listed and famous artists, from several different countries! In the spirit of celebrating each others differences, ALL of the art is being offered with.

Bold brushwork, a nice impasto and masterfully juxtaposed colors are just a few of this vintage oil painting's qualities! The combination of these qualities fills the canvas with a lively sense of energy that you would expect and hope to see in a painting by famous listed American artist- Leroy Neiman!!! Leroy Neiman is a popular American artist. His work is in many permanent art collections, including the Baltimore Museum of Art; Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and the Art Institute of Chicago.

I believe this painting was done by Neiman because I have seen many of his other original oil paintings that have similar brushwork, impasto, color palette, subject matter and compositions that possess a similar, powerful energy! Possibly even earlier or later. The signature has been tested under an ultraviolet light and it is original to the painting! The natural oxidation on the back of the canvas is consistent with other paintings that I have seen done around 1981. There are also documented Neiman canvasses that are the same size as this one. There is nothing wrong with it. I believe this was the case with this painting, as they chose to evaluate it as being done "in the manner of" Neiman, as this painting probably came from an estate and didn't have paperwork from more than 35 years ago with it. As you know, not may people have paperwork from 35 years ago! I believe if you weigh the evidence...

The evidence speaks for itself!! LeRoy Neiman American Artist: b. For the last 50 years, LeRoy Neiman has been the world's most recognized popular artist. He created a vibrant energetic style that set his art apart from all others. His works encompass sports, entertainment, travel, and adventure.

His was a life well lived, and he made us a part of his extraordinary journey, seeing and doing things we could only dream of. His vision has captured moments in time that can never be forgotten. The art of Leroy Neiman is unique without any real comparison. He has broken the barriers of many of the most hallowed assumptions of modern art history and contemporary criticism and his art is loved by millions of people throughout America and around the world. Sadly Leroy Neiman passed away on June 20th 2012. Leroy Neiman was born in St.

Paul, Minnesota, and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, De Paul University, and the University of Illinois. Neiman taught at the Art Institute of Chicago's school for ten years. Neiman moved to New York City in 1963 when he had his first one-man show at the Hammer Gallery. For the next 49 years Neiman continued to portray the people and events of the world he knew best, or which intrigued him most. His best-known works are sports scenes, a reflection, he believed, of the fact that sports are universally a dominant force.

LeRoy Neiman was the official artist for ABC-TV at the Olympic Games in 1972 and 1976, and at the Winter Olympics of 1980. Neiman's work has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the world, including the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D. And the Hermitage in Leningrad.

Before his recent passing he endowed Columbia University with a school for fine art print making. We have buyers for original paintings and Warecolor. This oil on canvas measures 23- ¾" by 29- ¾" with it's frame and the actual painting measures 18" by 24".

The painting is signed "Leroy Neiman" and dated "1981", on the lower right. The painting is in good, overall condition. The 3" wide and 2" deep wood frame has some natural wood defects and some minor nicks/scratches. When examining the painting under the ultraviolet light, I did not find evidence of inpainting. The signature is original to the painting and it did not fluoresce under the ultraviolet light.
