Illegibly Signed Vintage Latin American orish Large Surreal Oil Painting

Illegibly Signed Vintage Latin American or.ish Large Surreal Oil Painting. This is one of those paintings that just feels "right"!

If you are an art collector, these are paintings that one feels deep inside are done by someone of importance. The colors, the brushwork and the composition are all superbly rendered! The combination of these qualities fills the painting with a great sense of mood and atmosphere!

The only problem that I have with this painting is that I have not been able to decipher the signature! The signature could be read a lot of different ways depending on how you read the first letter of the author's name. Some possibilities is that the name may begin with an "A", "Z", "M", "N" or "S". This would lead to the author's name being a possibility of a wide variety of names such as "Arroyo", "Zamora", "Morales", "Naranjo", "Santana" or something similar.

It is difficult to discern whether the two characters before "80" are numbers, which would be a part of the date... Or whether they are letters, which be part of the author's last name. The author's style appears to combine some of the best elements of paintings done by Roberto Matta, Salvador Dali and Francis Bacon.

Yet, the author's style and composition are uniquely his or her own which makes me believe there is a good chance that this painting was done by an important and probably well listedish or Latin American artist, since the painting is titled "Espejismo" ("Mirage" in English). As most of you know, many Latin American &ish surreal paintings with this age and quality are locked away in museums or major collections where they will never see the light of day again! This oil painting on masonite board (glued to the masonite board liner) measures 35" by 27.75" with its frame. The actual painting measures 33" by 24" and is illegible signed, dated either "1980" or "80" and is titled "Espejismo" ("Mirage" in English), on the lower right. Other than a few tiny specks of non-distracting missing paint on the upper left edge, which account for much less than 1% of the painting's total surface area, the painting is in very good, overall condition.

Please note that the author created lines as a part of his or her technique for effect. These lines should not be mistaken for scratches or any other sort of damage and are most noticeable on the top third of the painting.

The thin metal frame has some scratches. The liner has numerous stains and the painting is glued to the liner.

The painting is definitely worthy of it! When examining the painting under an ultraviolet light, I found no evidence of restoration. The author's signature, title and date are original to the painting. As mentioned above, manyish and Latin American surreal oil paintings with this quality and age are in museums or other major collections where they will never see the light of day again! I try to provide the best customer service possible. Due to the quality of the art, I do not risk damaging paintings by taking them off of their stretcher (or liner) and rolling them up, as these are not new paintings. We can use other carriers upon request. Thank you and I hope you have a "purrific" time viewing my auctions! These charges are specific to each country and are the buyers responsibility. Transit times may vary, particularly during peak periods.
