Ross Robershaw was born in Toronto, Canada in 1919. He worked in Toronto for 19 years painting street scenes and portraits of old homes. Around 1973 he settled near Buckhorn, north of Peterborough, Ontario. Most of his paintings were done plein air, and he travelled long distances to paint scenery. Some painting trips took him to such scenic places as Halliburton and Algonquin Park.
While in his studio he also painted portraits, seventy of which are self portraits. He lived in a 135 year old cabin with his wife Lillian.
He has also exhibited at the Mackenzie Gallery at Trent University, and the Gallery Gabor in Toronto.
