Seeing the way in which nature is presented in this painting, it comes as no surprise that Huertas is known as the Ansel Adams of painting. Vintage : mid- to late-20th century. Marks : signed S Huertas on lower right. Please note that we are not art experts. We have no reason to suspect the authenticity of this piece, nor do we possess the knowledge to judge it as a work of a known or listed artist.
We try to be exceptionally honest about everything we sell and what we know about it, and expertise in artwork is exceptionally difficult to gain. We respect it and we do not claim to have it.Approximate measurements: Painting: 24" x 30" Frame: 29.5" x 35.5". Condition : Our photos are the most important part of our description. Please zoom in and enlarge all of them and examine the details closely. We are not art experts , so please do not rely on our words and opinions to completely inform you. We have not observed the painting outside of the frame, nor have we seen the back without the paper dust cover.
We have made no attempt to clean, polish, repair or otherwise alter the appearance of this vintage piece. The solid-wood, gold-tone frame is stunning, with bright, shiny color, but does has scattered spots of wear/rubs to the gold finish. Far, far better than "shabby chic, " and not that noticeable.
Frame is solid wood, with quality construction, and very stable. The painting itself is stunning. Even so, there are two serious condition issues of which we are aware: (1) along the very top edge of the canvas, the part that hits up against the frame, there is wear and actual tears, mainly affecting the right side of the painting. This has caused some rippling that can be seen from the sides. (2) on the far upper right corner, in the yellow area of the sun, we are pretty sure there is a repaired tear in the canvas.
The area is lumpy and there is a faint line through that area. We don't have the knowledge to determine exactly what the issue is, and we don't even know for certain that there is an issue there. It looks suspicious, so we mention it. We don't think it stands out or detracts from the painting's appearance very much at all, but that is definitely a matter of opinion. Therefore, we are offering it as "shabby chic, " and AS-IS.
If you are a fine art collector, this is a beautiful painting very worthy of repair. If you simply love beautiful art, this is an opportunity to own a stunning piece by a gifted (and listed) artist that will hang beautifully in your home as-is. The condition issues are not in any way minor, but are also not really noticeable unless you're right on top of the painting, looking for them. We consider funky odors (cigarette smoke, mildew, etc) to be an important part of a condition report.Corndogcache is a 100% non-smoking environment, and we'll let you know if any of our vintage items smell like it (or anything else) from activities they may have been involved in before they came to us.
