Vintage EXPRESSIONIST NUDE OIL PAINTING MID CENTURY MODERNIST New York Signed 1954. Bold, monumental modernist painting with delicately modulated warm color tones. Highly accomplished abstract painting with simplified voluminous form. An overall dry brush technique is employed, giving this work an abbreviated angular outline and raw sporadically applied strokes.
Pigmentation is subtle, yet deep in contrast. Figure is situated within a richly composed geometric ground which enhances the curvilinear organic form.Reminiscent of Picasso's rose period where classical simplified shapes are abstracted through cubist means. Oil painting on canvas board. Signed and dated at lower left corner - Weisman 54' (from Brooklyn Heights, New York). Original combed wormy Chestnut modernist frame with grey to white washes.
Measures 37.75" x 32.75" in frame. Painting is 30" x 25".
