Vintage Rare Original Eric Gill Art Deco Hawaiian Airbrush Painting Pair MCM

Original Airbrush Paintings by Eric Gill. Signed, framed, and matted (believed to be original frame). A collectible pair of signed and framed airbrush paintings by Hawaiian Listed Artist Eric Gill. Most of his paintings were either framed or retailed through a San Francisco shop called Permalee. These authentically paired pieces are original and not reproductions, and are painted with Gill's inimitable airbrush technique involving cutout stencils in order to serialize production, capturing the natural grace and beauty of the Hawaiian wahine.

As a prominent Hawaiian airbrush artist, his works are some of the most sought-after and most recognizable for this time period. This pair appears to be of the same woman of opposite profiles, she is holding a basket of fruit and standing in front of a palm tree.

There is a man in a boat with sail in the background of each painting. Colors are yellows, greens, she is wearing a white tight top with a tied skirt -We are unsure if these were originally framed by Permalee. There is no sticker, however there is the writing "Gill 155" and "Gill 156" on the back of each which is consistent with a numbering process that was used and the writing matches others that have been numbered on the back. The interior color of the frame, a light chartreuse yellow, matches the background in the artwork -The edges of the frame are dark brown Condition -The paintings are sealed in the frames, we do not wish to open them.

These are an estate find. We an only give measurements and condition as seen through the glass and on back. Frame measures 27" x 23" (edge to edge) -Sight through matte measures 16" x 13" (artwork could be larger under the matte, this is unknown) -The edges of the frames are scratched, nicked and dinged -The artwork itself appears to be in very good condition, the whiter areas such as the sail show some very light tiny spots, this could be dust in the glass, we are unsure but have included a closeup photo of this.
