VTG Art Deco Era 1940s Signed BJ Harris Airbrush Painting Watercolor Orig Frame
Signed Harris in the lower right, and copyrighted ND. This original airbrush painting was created by Ben Jorj Harris. Ben Jorj Harris is listed, and is renowned as being one of America's first airbrush artists, whose work is highly collected. He was a cover artist for magazines such as Collier's and also worked on sheet music covers, book illustrations, and for many of the 1940s shows.
Ben Jorj Harris is known for portraits and flowers, and the featured lady is lovely. This work features smooth, sharp images and very subtle gradations of tone and color. Medium: Original Airbrush Watercolor Painting on Paper (this is not a print). Size: Framed approximately 26 3/8"h x 24.25"w; the image site is 17 5/8"h x 15 5/8"w. Condition: The painting is in very nice condition, perhaps because it has always been housed under the frame's original glass. The painted wood frame has some scratches. The backing paper has paper loss and tape, and the back paper is coming off.Label on the upper center back is also torn and taped and is coming off. On the front lower left stands for Newman Decor. Label is also on the back.
