1944 VINTAGE ABSTRACT MODERNIST - EXPRESSIONIST OIL PAINTING Mid Century Signed. Extremely bright well rendered expressionist oil painting. Imagery brings to mind the work of Edvard Munch, along with Arnold Bocklin.

Also signed and dated on back of canvas - Esther K. Oil painting on early unbleached canvas. Canvas is nailed to stretcher.

A few early repairs to canvas (are not visible from front). Surface shows crazing, but is very stable. Newcomb Macklin water gilded hand carved Modernist frame with finished rounded corners. Frame in very good condition.

Some light scratches to gilding in a few areas. Measures 26.5" x 22.5" in frame.
