The word deer in the description is to suggest a general image. However, according to accepted convention and taxonomy, Antelope are not "Deer" they are members of the Goat family and are often known by locals and hunters as "Prairie Goats". A key difference is that deer annually grow and then shed a new set of antlers, while antelope have a single set of constantly growing horns (not antlers) for life. Female antelope "Does" also have somewhat smaller pronghorns as well as the male "Bucks". Si the term "Pronghorn Buck" would be most appropriate and correct for the image that inspired this painting. The author is one of those artists to view the natural world of birds, animals and plants as a subject worthy of attention. Artists intention was to capture the mood of a scene, particularly a forest landscape with a buck, and help the viewer feel the subject as he experienced it. In good used condition with imperfections, minor chips and scratches. Because of the bright light of the flash and the gloss of the painting there is some glare in the image that does not appear in the actual picture; please ignore it! This is why I took some pictures with the flash and some others without the flash! However, the colors are vibrant and close to reality! Great for any collection, great as a present for every occasion, highly decorative for your home!
