Vintage 1960's Guy Nez Jr. Navajo Men On Horses Gouache Watercolor Painting

This listing is for the original gouache or opaque watercolor painting that you see in the photos. It is signed, GUY NEZ, Jr The Guy and the Nez are not separated by much space but I believe they should be read as two words. According to askart, Guy Nez Jr. Is a Navajo Indian born in a Hogan on the Navajo Reservation on December 26, 1946 at White Cove, Arizona. More information about him can be read on askart.

I have found quite a few of his works on the internet so I guessing that he is a relatively well known artist. That makes me think that this work was probably done in the 1960's. It also appears to be smooth. The frame measures close to 37 ¾ by 31 3/4 inches.

The area of the painting exposed by the frame measures close to 29 ½ by 23 5/8 inches. The framed painting weighs close to 6 pounds 13 ounces.

The condition is much like you see it in the 15 photos after the general description. Close-ups show 3 small/tiny areas that are a little lighter than they should be.

I think that a little moisture caused them. There is a fourth smaller yet similar area that I did not get close-up of. There is one light to moderate rolling distortion of the paper board making it so it is not perfectly flat. You can get some idea of how distorted it is by looking at the top edge of the painting in the photo taken at an angle.

There are some light stains on the fabric part of the wooden frame. The frame shows some slight amount of wear. Otherwise, the frame and the painting are generally fine and as shown. My photos should give you a good idea their general condition. I guarantee this painting to be as described and represented by the 15 photos after the general description.
