This boldly composed and richly painted oil on Masonite measures a most decorative 36 5/8 x 27 framed; 32 5/8 x 24 actual and is signed and dated lower right Carol Wald 67. She was a published author on 20th century art subjects and is recognized in many modern art collections in the US including the National Museum of American Art, The Butler Museum of Art, Smithsonian Institution and the Detroit Institute of Art. This work is richly backlit with thinly applied paint and areas of rich texture; the artists introspective depiction of her subject is most typical of Walds portraits.

The painting is in good, stable condition with minor scuffs to the paint on the high points. You will note some edge chips as well. It is housed in a 1960s era frame with dusty linen liner.
