Vintage John Hare Cape Cod Boats in Cove Harbor WC Listed Chatham Cape Cod

Outstanding watercolor of boats in a Cape Cod cove by well-known Cape Cod, Provincetown, St. Augustine, and Gloucester artist John C.

Hare studied at the Pratt Institute and the Art Students League in New York. He worked for Hearst Newspapers early in his career before becoming an exhibiting artist and painter. Known as the "Dean" of Cape Cod artists, Hare exhibited in St. Augustine, Florida he was a member of the St.

Augustine Art Association, Provincetown, and Cape Cod. Hare's work is in the collections of Smith College, the Lightner Museum in St. Augustine, the Lowe Art Museum in Miami, among others. This watercolor is signed lower right and measures 7" x 8 1/8" (sight size). It is in good condition though it appears to have mat burn on the edges of the paper. In an older frame and mat (mat color has faded and inner mat has yellowed). Please see my other auctions for more fine paintings and prints.
