Varo painting and was painted by someone else as dupe. Nevertheless- this is a cool painting which is interesting and well done. The scene is of a traveling stage show. A magician is out front juggling white spheres on a fold-out green platform.

There is a small table and chest on legs holding his other equipment. Behind him in the cart is another person and living quarters complete with an owl perched on the back of a chair. Blue birds fly around the roof and there appear to be some apparatus and rigging for magical furled sails.

The performance is taking place inside a city square. Buildings with shadowy arches in a block make up the edges and trees poke over under the dark night sky. The audience are a strange group of people- similar in face and hair- and all wearing grey robes which snake together as one undulant mass of drapery.

This is brings the "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" to mind, a very interesting and dream-like movie. Varo signature again is not original to the name however it is located in the bottom right corner. As found, minor wear- dust.
