Vintage Southwest Original Watercolor, "Ancient Trees", Signed Jerry Becker, Probably 1960's-70's in the. This evocative desert landscape watercolor depicts two ancient trees, possibly desert ironwood trees with scrub vegetation and a high mountain ridge in the late afternoon sun. Probably depicting a subject in the area around Tucson, Arizona and painted in nature rather than in the studio. It shows excellent draftsmanship with subtle coloration and may be fairly early work by this listed, prolific and long lived Western artist: Jerry Becker. Splitting his time between Tucson and Tacoma, Washington, this painter is well known and widely exhibited.

This work is painted on artist board and retains its original varnish finish, which eliminates the need for glass in the framing. Jerry Becker was born in 1928 in Tacoma, Washington and maintained studios in Tacoma and Tucson, AZ for over 50 years. In Washington, he seems to focus on coastal views often with fishing shacks, inland farmsteads, and mountain landscapes.

In Tucson there is a focus on Sonoran Desert subjects. Plein Air work seems to exhibit great authenticity and excellent drawing.
