VTG SIGNED ORIG OIL PAINTING SEASCAPE OF ROCKPORT, MASS. Stoffa was a member of Jardin del Artes, the North Shore Arts Association, and the International Society of Marine Painters. Stoffas work is exhibited at the Arkell Art Museum at Canojoharie (New York), the Michael Stoffa Gallery (Rockport, MA) and in private and public collections throughout the U. The original oil on board offered here is a lovely example of Stoffas Rockford, Massachusetts, subject matter.
Titled From Tuna Wharf, Rockport, Mass. The painting depicts a group of rowboats moored to a wharf as a small sailboat glides across the water beneath seagulls floating in the salty air. The painting is signed and dated (79) in paint in the lower left and again in pen on the reverse beneath the title and next to the date 8/27/79. Affixed to the reverse is a pamphlet from the Michael Stoffa Gallery.
The painting is framed in a beautiful beveled wood frame with gilt accents. Without the frame, the painting measures 6.25 x 8, and the overall framed dimensions measure 9 x 10.75. While there are some nicks and scratches on the frame, the condition of the painting is excellent.
